Below is a comparison of a traditional Management model
and Marquette's Management Model

The Traditional Management Model
Marquette views this traditional model as being about authority and control. We see it as cumbersome and too slow for change. We see it as not empowering of employees.

The Marquette Organization

Bankers = partners. Bankers are the group that provides the resources and opportunity to do business. In the above style of management, partners are accessible.

Client of bankers=pension funds.

Staff group works on behalf of properties, not vice-versa. The job of Staff Group is to proactively work with the properties so that properties can achieve what's needed for their clients (bankers). Staff group is an internal consultant to point out to both bankers and site staff where they are off, how they can build capacity, what is most likely to produce success, and what will not.

The agreement that site staff has with the bankers is to deliver a certain style of management, improve lives of those on their properties (make a difference there and beyond), and to deliver an above market return to the bankers.

External Consultants
In addition to the Staff Group, who serve as "internal consultants", Marquette has developed a wide range of "external consultants" who offer a greater depth of expertise and experience in specific areas. Current external consultants include, but are not limited to, Contegrity Program Designs, who develop "life-altering" courses for Marquette employees, to The Institute for Community, a not-for-profit group, who helps design new concepts for creating resident volunteers on each of Marquette's properties.
