History

1983-Marquette Properties, Inc., (MPI) is founded by Nick Ryan and Bruno Bottarelli who had been working together for another developer. They began as "merchant builders" with a goal of building a strong development company.

1984-MPI starts development and construction of five apartment communities totaling 2,000 units in the Chicago suburbs earning the title, "King of the Suburbs" by the Chicago Tribune.

1986-MPI develops its first commercial office building, "Marquette Center", in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, totaling 200,000 square feet of office space.

1988-MPI purchases 128 acres from Ford Motor Land Corporation and begins development of a $90 Million master planned community including apartments and for sale housing.

1989-MPI's partners join forces with apartment management innovator, Rick Harb, and form Marquette Management, Inc.

1990-MMI's three partners begin redefining property management through the development of a new body of knowledge entitled, "Advanced Management", which focuses on creating a decentralized operating model with no middle management and empowerment at the point of customer contact.

1990-1993-Marquette gains a national reputation for its "fun working environment", its innovative management philosophy, and its legendary customer service. Its "We C.A.T.E.R." Service Program brings five star hotel style services to the apartment industry and sets the standard for the apartment industry.

1994-Marquette develops alliance with Contegrity Program Designs, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, to create life-altering coursework for Marquette employees and families in the areas of communication, accountability and community building.

1994-Marquette joins forces with Kensington Realty Advisors (Pension Fund Advisory Firm) and creates Kensington Marquette Partners (KMP) with a goal of purchasing 10,000 apartments by the year 2001.

1999-Marquette reaches 8,000 + apartments and begins its formalized School of Advanced Management (MSAM) with more than 25 courses taught on every aspect of property management, marketing and maintenance.

2001-Marquette expands it efforts with Kensington Marquette Partners by joining forces with Formation Capital LLC to form KMF, a privately owned investment manager specializing in senior housing. See kmfseniorhousing.com for more information.

2001-Marquette's School of Advanced Management expands by introducing Career Tracks, a program that allows employees to advance within their positions to become 'certified' and 'senior'. These career paths enable employees to be experts within their position, reap the financial benefits of becoming certified or senior, and contribute their expertise to others within the company. The career tracks also allow for advancement to other positions within the company.
